  1. Software Installer is a programming tool that helps
  2. you automate the installation process for applications
  3. you develop.  Use Software Installer to provide your
  4. users with an easy and consistent way to install and
  5. maintain your applications.

  7. Software Installer provides services for installing,
  8. maintaining, and deleting the workstation parts of
  9. products that you distribute on diskette or initially
  10. install from a host system.  Software Installer
  11. supports installation from the following host systems:
  12. -- Application System/400
  13. -- Multiple Virtual Storage (MVS)
  14. -- Virtual Machine (VM)
  15. -- Virtual Storage Extended (VSE)

  17. Software Installer also supports installation from the
  18. following:
  19. -- Diskette
  20. -- CD ROM
  21. -- Local Area Network (LAN)
  22.  
  23. With Software Installer you can install software on an
  24. individual workstation, a LAN connected to the
  25. workstation, or a combination of both.
